How To Deal With Under-Eye Puffiness

We might not be able to prevent ageing, but we sure can help slow the process down!...

Everyone has experienced puffiness under the eyes; whether it's due to a late night out, drinking too many glasses of wine, lack of sleep or after a salty meal. Don't worry, the bags under your eyes are totally normal as you get older. The tissues around your eyes weaken with age, including some of the muscles that protect your eyelids. Therefore we have picked out 12 different products that can help you to get rid of the puffiness under your eyes.

Eye Masks

There are masks for just about everything;  the face, body, lips and even the eyes. These masks are designed to minimaze the puffiness under your eyes. Apply these masks right after you shower and when your make-up is removed.

Jade Roller

We know what you might thinking... what is a jade roller? Well, a jade roller is a facial massage tool that is made from a jade stone. This stone consists of many healing properties; is naturally cool to the touch and good to help reduce puffiness. Most of the jade rollers have two ends- a larger and a smaller side. In bigger areas of your face (forehead, cheeks and chin) the larger side is used and the smaller side is used for the hard to reach areas of your face (under eyes).

There are three steps to use the jade roller:

step 1: Remove your make-up and make sure you have a clean face.

step 2: Moisturize your skin.

step 3: Roll it out using the small end. Roll from the inner eye to the outer corner. Repeat this 10 to 15 times.

Eye Contour Serum

These eye contour serums will be great at reducing puffiness as well as dark circles under the eyes.

Eye Cream

Eye cream helps reduce the appearance of under-eye bags and dark circles- especially when it is kept in the refrigerator. Apply the eye cream in small dots around your eye.

8 Must-Have Ingredients in Your Natural Skincare Routine

Going "all-natural" has been making waves in the beauty and skincare world, and for good reason! There's a growing demand for consumers to know what exactly is in their favourite products, especially as many of them contain artificial ingredients, preservatives, and even toxins that aren't so great for your skin. If you've been finding it tricky to find organic products online, why not introduce some natural ingredients into your skincare routine? They're easier to find and extremely versatile, and sometimes going back to basics is exactly what you need. Here are some of our faves.
Matcha

Matcha is more than just a yummy (and healthy) flavor for your drinks and ice cream! It's a powerful anti-aging ingredient that also rejuvenates your skin cells. Try mixing with rose water or honey for an easy DIY face mask!

Raw Honey

Raw honey can be one of the most soothing things to introduce to your skin, and can be incorporated into your routine in a number of ways! Use it as a soft facial cleanser (after removing your makeup), mix it with some other natural ingredients to make your own hair or face mask, or massage it into your face as a gentle exfoliant. The possibilities are endless.

Tea Tree Oil

If you have acne-prone skin and those store-bought artificial products haven't been doing the trick, try this out! Its anti-inflammatory properties makes it a popular ingredient in cleansers and can greatly reduce itchiness and irritation. Make sure to dilute tea tree oil by mixing it with another natural oil like carrier oil, or your favorite moisturizer or toner.

Shea Butter

If you have dry skin, raw shea butter is a great fat that can act as a great remedy, softening and smoothing the skin. You can use it as a natural moisturizer or lip balm, or mixed into your go-to lotion.

Aloe Vera

It's no wonder why aloe vera is a common ingredient in over-the-counter skincare products. In its purer forms, aloe vera works as an amazing antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent. Mix it with honey for a face mask, or apply to irritated areas like bug bites or acne for relief.

Coconut Oil

Besides being a healthy fat that is great to cook with, coconut oil has some great moisturizing properties for your skin and hair. While it is too thick to act as an effective oil on its own, it works great when applied on top of moisturizer or as an ingredient in your all-natural cleanser.

Ginseng

Yep, not only is ginseng one of the best health drinks out there but it can do great things for your skin. Ginseng extract is beneficial for all skin types, but it's especially good as an anti-aging product. Add it to your next DIY face mask!

Apple Cider Vinegar

You've heard of throwing it onto your salads, now get ready to put it on your skin! Apple cider vinegar can help out with clearing your skin when implemented into your routine. Add this to your facial cleansers and toners, or take a bath in a diluted version to soothe sunburned skin.

Face wash with AHA/BHA

Your skin will become oily and sweaty in the summer, creating acne-prone environment. Choose a exfoliating face wash that has AHA or BHA, but remember to use it only 3 times a week at most as the acidic properties may dry out your skin.

Clay Mask

Use a clay mask once a week to detoxify your skin in the summer. Clay masks also help unclog and shrink pores!

Aloe Vera Gel

Aloe vera is anti-inflammatory and moisturizing. It also contains antioxidants that protect your skin from damage. Apply aloe gel to your face and body after a long day outside, and it will feel amazing.

Ready To Get Tan?

While you might not be getting much sunshine if you live in the big city, you can still get the perfect sun kissed tan without...

While you might not be getting much sunshine if you live in the big city, you can still get the perfect sun kissed tan without any risk of sun damage (wrinkles, age spots or much worse). Here’s how to do it!

Step 1: Exfoliate your face and body

Make sure that you have removed all of your dead skin skills with some exfoliating glove to make sure the tan color penetrates your skin. For the delicate areas around the throat and face, use a gently exfoliating scream. If you do not have one, you can easily make your own at home. All you need is coconut oil and sugar! Mix them together and gently rub them into your skin in a circular motion.

Step 2: Hydrate your skin

Hydration is the most important step to getting the perfect tan. We all have areas of our body that are particularly dry. The drier areas of the body will absorb the tanning lotion more, which can result in a spotty tan. This can easily be avoided by hydrating your skin first. Do not forget to let the lotion dry well before you apply anything else to the skin.

Step 3: Time for tan!

Start applying the tanning lotion from bottom to top, starting with your lower body and working your way up to your neck and face. Take your time and be careful not to miss any part of your skin. After you're done, don't put any light colored clothing on and let it dry for at least 12 hours, or it may stain your clothing! You can also do it right before bed and sleep with it overnight.

Step 4: Missed a spot?

After the lotion has dried, you can see if you missed any spots and do some easy fill-ins. If the tan is too dark, just take a shower to lighten it.

Step 5: Keep your tan!

To make sure that your tan does not fade away too quickly, repeat the steps listed above. Be sure to keep your skin hydrated, and try making this a part of your daily morning routine to easily maintain the nice glow all summer long.
