While you might not be getting much sunshine if you live in the big city, you can still get the perfect sun kissed tan without any risk of sun damage (wrinkles, age spots or much worse). Here’s how to do it!
Step 1: Exfoliate your face and body
Make sure that you have removed all of your dead skin skills with some exfoliating glove to make sure the tan color penetrates your skin. For the delicate areas around the throat and face, use a gently exfoliating scream. If you do not have one, you can easily make your own at home. All you need is coconut oil and sugar! Mix them together and gently rub them into your skin in a circular motion.
Step 2: Hydrate your skin
Hydration is the most important step to getting the perfect tan. We all have areas of our body that are particularly dry. The drier areas of the body will absorb the tanning lotion more, which can result in a spotty tan. This can easily be avoided by hydrating your skin first. Do not forget to let the lotion dry well before you apply anything else to the skin.
Step 3: Time for tan!
Start applying the tanning lotion from bottom to top, starting with your lower body and working your way up to your neck and face. Take your time and be careful not to miss any part of your skin. After you're done, don't put any light colored clothing on and let it dry for at least 12 hours, or it may stain your clothing! You can also do it right before bed and sleep with it overnight.
Step 4: Missed a spot?
After the lotion has dried, you can see if you missed any spots and do some easy fill-ins. If the tan is too dark, just take a shower to lighten it.
Step 5: Keep your tan!
To make sure that your tan does not fade away too quickly, repeat the steps listed above. Be sure to keep your skin hydrated, and try making this a part of your daily morning routine to easily maintain the nice glow all summer long.
