Winter is here, and our skin is taking a hit! Here's how to keep your skin looking its best when it's cold and windy outside.

1. More cream, please

When temperatures drop, the air is drier and so is your skin. The contrast between cold/moist air outside and dry/warm air inside can really dry out your skin. Don't skimp on the moisturizing; it's better to shine a little than to allow your skin to get too dry.

2. Don't hesitate to use body oil

Oil is the perfect ally in winter: it leaves a thin protective film that retains moisture. You can add a few drops of oil to your day cream to combine the positive effects of both and hydrate your skin intensively. Before sleeping, you can put pure oil on your skin to nourish it deeply during the night.

3. Use moisturizing masks

Applying a nourishing, softening and moisturizing mask once a week can help your skin stay strong against the relentless cold weather.

4. Exfoliate your skin

Exfoliating renews your skin and restores its freshness. But be careful, exfoliate less than you would normally in order to maintain a barrier between your skin and the cold air.

5. Change to a super gentle cleanser

As your skin is fragile, some cleanser could be an extra-aggression. Change to a super gentle cleanser such as oil or milk-based.

6. Give your lips some TLC

What's worse than having chapped and cracked lips?

6. Give your hands some extra protection

Your hands get a lot of use and exposure to cold air every day. Take care of them by massaging your hands and nails regularly with a rich hand cream. It's going to negate the risk of your hands being dry, painful and chapped. It's like wearing an extra pair of gloves in the winter cold!

Do you have enough time to spend a lot of time getting ready in the morning and doing touch ups through out the day? No? Neither do we!

And since we're pretty nice, we're going to share with you — the community of very busy women our favorite quick beauty tips to help you feel more relaxed and refreshed on a stressful day.

1. Discover the many functions of lipstick

We're all familiar with the morning rush. There's no time to do your hair, no time to do your make up. Simply swipe your favorite shade of lipstick over your eyelids, cheekbones, and lips to look instantly polished in a flash.

2. Mascara, your ally every day

No more arriving at the office with tired eyes! It only takes a second to apply a little mascara and brighten up your look.

3. Never be without your rosewater spray

Rose water gives you the impression of an extra fresh face! Spritz it all over throughout the day for hydrated and bright skin.

4. Put your sheet mask on

Okay, so you might look like a weird panda but the effects are worth it. You only need to keep on your face for a minimum of 60 seconds to immediately give your skin a boost of moisture and vitamins.

5. Revitalize your skin

Gently scrub your body to quickly and lightly exfoliate your skin and get rid of dead skin cells when you shower. You'll regain skin as soft as a baby. Don't forget to hydrate afterwards!

6. Breathe in, breathe out

When taking a simple breath is no longer enough, sniff some essential oils of mint or eucalyptus. They have very soothing properties, and are 100% natural!

We are all familiar with Western and Korean cosmetics brands such as Lancôme, Maybelline, Innisfree, Etude House and so on. But China also has their own domestic cosmetics brands that are worth checking out! The Chinese cosmetics industry is currently on the rise as the Chinese government continues to offer their support to domestic brands and work to dispel the notion that all foreign brands are superior. Here are some of the most well known cosmetics brands from China, and their best selling products. Let’s take a look!

Chando was established in Shanghai in 2009 and is one of the most successful domestic cosmetics brands in China, with endorsements from the likes of Fan Bingbing and other Chinese celebrities. They operate throughout mainland China and also have retail locations in the USA, Russia and Britain.

Herborist was founded in 1988 and is a premium cosmetics brand in China inspired by combining traditional Chinese herbal medicine with more modern skincare technology. It’s a brand from Jahwa – a Chinese cosmetics group giant created 110 years ago in Shanghai. You can also find this brand in the USA and throughout Europe.

Maysu was established in Shanghai, and founded in 2001. The brand is dedicated to Asian skin types and has had commercials directed by famed director Wong Kar Wai and starring Shu Qi. While the brand is primarily marketed to the Chinese market, they have a loyal following in Europe and the UK.

KanS Cosmetics Co., was founded in 2002 in Shanghai. Environmentally friendly and sustainable products have grown in popularity in China in the last decade (for good reason!), and KanS advertises itself as being at the forefront of the movement as a member of the Solar Impulse Foundation.

Marie Dalgar was founded in 2006 by Cui Xiaohong, a young makeup artist who heard the complaints of her friends about how short their eyelashes were and wanted to help. The brand philosophy is that makeup in itself is an art form and form of personal expression.

The Ultimate Asian Skincare Routine

What's the secret behind Asian women's seemingly ageless skin? It involves following a daily skincare routine religiously, going far beyond smearing a make-up removing wipe...

What's the secret behind Asian women's seemingly ageless skin? It involves following a daily skincare routine religiously, going far beyond smearing a make-up removing wipe on your face before going to bed.

We investigated what women in China, Japan and Korea do to take care of their skin, reading reviews and going by personal recommendations to determine what products work best.

Make-Up Removal & Cleansing

Start off with a light make-up remover, rubbing it gently with a sweeping motion to avoid irritating the eyes. If you want a more deep clean for tougher makeup, opt for a oil cleanser. Follow up with a water-based cleanser to remove any excess oil and other impurities.

Exfoliation

Gently massage an exfoliating scrub into your skin 2-3 times a week to remove dead skin cells from the surface of the skin, revealing smooth and silky skin underneath. Avoid sensitive areas around the eyes and mouth.

Toner, Essense & Serum

Here's where we get into the real heart of an Asian skincare routine, and what distinguishes it from any Western alternatives. Toner helps to re-hydrate and balance out the skin after a deep cleansing/exfoliation that can cleanse the skin of natural oils. Essences and serums are more of a concentrated treatment that aid in skin repair and targeting problem areas, like large pores, wrinkles or acne. Use them liberally!

Moisturizer & Eye Cream

No matter what type of skin you have, hydration is key. A good moisturizing lotion protects and improves your skin, while helping to prevent wrinkles and rough skin patches. Top it all off with a hydrating eye cream on the delicate skin around the eyes that needs extra protection. And as always, drink plenty of water!

Other Goodies

Rule #1 of all skincare regimes is use SPF daily! If you don't have the time to really pamper your skin before heading out the door in the morning, this is the only step you really can't skip. Using a moisturizer or make-up product with SPF can prevent long-term damage to your skin as a result of sun exposure. Even if the sun isn't shining, be sure to use it.

And last but not least, treat yourself to an intensely moisturizing sheet mask as often as you'd like. Just be sure to warn someone before they see you, or you might really give them a scare!
