You may have noticed that off shoulder tops are hugely popular these days. Known to many as the “Bardot Top”, it owes its name to sixties fashion icon, Brigitte Bardot. Even after all these years, she remains throughout the world a symbol of timeless French style.
Why have so many women fallen in love with this style? It reveals a flattering cut of women’s shoulders in a chic and feminine way, without showing too much. And now, the trend has been updated with plenty of different types of off shoulder tops; try it cropped, slim-fit or even flared!

WITH A SKIRT
Like Rocky Barnes or Meagan Faye, mix and match your skirt (maxi or mini) with a Bardot top. Give some volume to your look by choosing a flared style.
You can never go wrong mixing an off shoulder top (choose high-waisted, cropped styles or the classic slim fit!) with casual denim shorts. Here’s how Federica and Julie Sarinana put their looks together.
AS A DRESS
We can often find the Bardot top’s neckline on a dress, as it is so flattering and feminine for any body type. Federica chose a slim fit yellow dress, while Julie adopted a looser fit and a tropical print also trending this season.
